Jim Douglas
Drummer Jim Douglas is equally comfortable swinging to big band charts for an 18-piece jazz band or playing detailed and difficult arrangements for a combo. He is a prolific soloist and a popular clinician. In October, 2010, Douglas was a guest artist at Jazz at Newport, now known as Oregon Coast Jazz Party. Douglas has accompanied numerous internationally performing musicians including: saxophonists Ken Peplowski, Richie Cole, Pete Christlieb, Bill Ramsey, Karolina Strassmayer, Bill Liston and Dick Oatts; trombonists Andy Martin and Michael Davis; trumpeters Jim Rotondi, Mike Vax and Bobby Shew; pianists Mike Wofford, Kenny Drew, Jr., Michael Weiss, Louis Landon, and George Colligan; flutists Hubert Laws and Holly Hofmann; and singers Cami Thompson, Greta Matassa and Darmon Meader. Besides Swing Shift Jazz Orchestra, Douglas is the leader of Jim Douglas Jazz Quintet and drummer for Slightly Retro Jazz Quartet.
